fineolbenz

welcome to mercedes shop!

there should be an adjustable "dial" just to the right of your headlight-on switch.

it would look "something" like this. do you have something similar?

fineolbenz-- it is possible your euro-model may not have cruise control. you could maybe inquire of some of our "european based"
brothers.
i always thought it was on or near the turn signal lever.
if you go to your local m.b. dealer and give them proof of ownership, they can order an owners manual for you.

how about posting a picture of your car?

grey500se--

if you go to a m.b. dealer with proof of ownership, they should be able to order the "dial" you need for your headlight beam adjuster.
if your car had this set up originally, the vacuum lines should still be there.

if you look back in the swap shop classifieds there was a man "abdoul" who was parting out a 500sec EURO a few months ago. maybe he still has that dial you need.

does your car have cruise control? if so would you tell fineolbenz where it's located?

hope this helps

peter

at the bottom of the "post reply" page go to where it says "attach file". that's where it's done, one of the 2 ways anyhow.
you might also do a search on posting pictures.

I found the switch for the beams adustment and I'm going to check it out tonight. Honestly I was driving the car and almost wrecked it looking for the cruise control. Then I looked a little closer under the hood and foud out it don't have one.

I might be interested in those headlamps That was the start of this measely thread, but I think I need to save some cash for tires first.

We have a 78 240D - its actually my Grandpa's. He ordered it in 78. We picked it up at the plant in Germany, used it for our vacation, and had it shipped back. It has been all over Europe. He doesn't drive it anymore, he is getting too old for the 4spd. He almost bought a C-series to replace it but he decided to buy a Saab 9-5 wagon instead. Now the Benz sits in the garage mostly. I want to sell it but he doesn't have the heart to get rid of it. I drive it ocasionally but it is a little slow for my taste. I am actually into Fords, I have 2 Mustangs (67 & 96GT), a Ranger 4x4, and a Pinto wagon (project).

BTW the headlights are still for sale.
