The Pay-It-Forward thread

The Pay-It-Forward thread.

Canadian Thanksgiving is this weekend and it has given me time to reflect on some things.

I have been a member since 2006 and through the resources here I have saved thousands and tackled maintenance, repairs and modifications I wouldn’t have thought of doing alone without advice. With the help of great generous forum members I have successfully completed many projects saved much money and feel confident enough with your help to tackle many more projects and even help others.

So it was a few months ago knowing that rear rotors and pads were in order I went out with flashlight in hand and verified that I had a two pin brake pad system. I ordered PBR Metal Master pads for a 1999 E300 and finally when I had time and get around to the repair imagine my surprise to find that I have the 1 pin system. Should have looked in daylight. Too long ago to send back so FREE to a member of the forum who will Pay–It-Forward. I will even pay reasonable shipping.

From their marketing blurb “The PBR Axxis Metal Master pads are made from a Non-asbestos, semi-metallic compound that provides the highest fade resistance among leading semi-met brake pads. They deliver proven longer pad and rotor life, with low rotor scoring and quiet braking. They are made with a unique formula that offers reduced brake dust, fade and squeal. These are the longest lasting brake pad on the market!”
I loved them on the Cosworth and my M3. They are fabulous pads, I find they do dust, perhaps not as much as others but they do dust..

PM me or leave name here, I will put all the names in a hat and announce the winner here on the 14th. Oh, only 1 rule “The only rule is that winner MUST have an item available that they are willing to Pay-It-Forward with. If you don't, please don't apply to be a winner". The life of this thread is reliant upon the winner actually Paying It Forward.

Thanks for past help, the economy sucks, lets do something nice for fellow members. EDBSO

Thank you, I obviously thought that it was a good idea, yet no Private Messages for the pads and no interest in the thread.

Perhaps the viewing population is too small.

Got something to Play-it-Forward, please feel free to list them here.

I think the biggest hurdle to moving those pads is the canadian shipping involved. there are many members on here from there, but the majority are US...

once I get my cars all parted and stored, I may donate a few items to the thread!

Wow outstanding thread idea.

I have much to pay forward. I have literally done a billion searches on this website, while contributing little. My current ride is the 85 300SD. It was being sold without a key after sitting for 10 years. I trailered it home and after a few months, it now starts, runs, and stops! I wouldn't have ever thought of buying such an undertaking without websites like this.

So, here's my first contribution. I know nothing about these brake pads other than they're brand new, Mercedes brand, and I have no idea what cars they are compatible with or how I got them. I'm too lazy to look them up. If you know what they are and want them, let me know and they're yours.

I'm thinking of placing a car in this thread... whoever wants it would need to come close to charlotte to pick it up...
I'm not sure if I should put in a 123, a 126 or a 124... options, options, options...
I've already given away an 82 240D... for a LOT of help in my yard...
I've got a project 84 300D with a partial conversion to manual status...
I've got an 83SD that has a bad B2 installation, I've got the seals and so fourth to install and get it 100% but... no time...
I've also got a sidelined 87TD... I REALLY don't wanna get rid of this car, but I may have to.

If I can arrange a truck and some time I'll take anything one as long as there is no body work required. Painting is NP.

What is a B2? Is that the injection pump? If so this is something that I want to learn how to do and as much about it as possible as I have a spare attached to a ruined block.

I have a family friend with an 84/85 SD gasser that's falling apart around him. They are loosing their house and this would be a great help to the family plus there would be spare parts for the non powertrain related stuff if needed.
