300D 617 European Engine
I'm selling a European 300D (617) engine that I have, I swapped it out for a 617 turbo. Was installed in my car and is in good running order (~<200k miles).
Here I am starting it up after is was put away for +1 year in our container. I turns over slow, couldn't get a great connection on the starter terminals and smokes quite a bit a first (burning off the ATF that was used to fog the engine before storing it away). 617 Euro Engine - YouTube It's a not the prettiest, a little oxidized on the outside, the way I received it when I pulled it from a donor 300D. Has almost all accessories. Asking $1000 OBO (can't seem to find any other european engines for sale here), so please make an offer. |

If it ends up parted I need a crankshaft. Suppose it's best to also replace the flywheel and harmonic balancer.
Was anything different about euro 617's? |

However I do have a crankshaft from a US 617 that is being parted along with many other parts. |

Do you know how crazy it is to replace the crankshaft? I'm sure it's a huge hassle but I'm hoping I can manage it myself. |

I'll double check, but I believe I have all the parts you need. I pulled my crank to replace the conrod bearings, but the engine was already out of the car on a stand. So it wasn't too much work in removing the crank. In car... I don't know, I haven't tried.
In essence you need to separate the tranny, loosen the timing chain by removing the cam gear, drop the oil pan, loosen and remove all conrod bearing caps, loosen and remove all main caps and finally pull the crank free. This would give you a good opportunity to replace the rear main seal (rope seal). Quote:
