1973-1980 W116 Manual Heater Assembly (Convert Your Climate Control To Manual)

This is a heater assembly removed from a Euro-spec W116 280SE. This is the manual system that is much simpler and more reliable than the dreaded automatic climate control that the US models got stuck with. I am going to be doing an automatic climate control to manual heat conversion in my 1980 300SD and I got this set as a spare just in case, but I am moving out of state at the end of the month, and I have way too much stuff!

I spent many, many hours removing these parts from the car, and I think I have just about all of the major parts you will need to convert your automatic climate control car to manual heat. Yes, it will be a lot of work to do. I recommend purchasing a W116 climate control factory service manual to help you through the conversion process.

What you see is what you get. Namely:

Faceplate with both heat and air conditioning switches

Heater box with heater core, evaporator, and slider/flap units

Blower assembly

Coolant shutoff valve for firewall

Wiring harness (I was careful to not cut any of the ends that attach to the fuse box, but I cut the wires to the headlight switch, etc., as they are probably not part of the heater harness)

Center vent slider with dashboard wood to use, or use as a reference for cutting a slider hole in your wood (though the wood looks nice in the pictures, the varnish is cracked all over)

All parts are sold as untested, though the flaps move with the levers, but will probably need lubrication and other tending to.

Asking $500 plush shipping from Tacoma, WA, USA, 98404 (international shipping may not be feasible). The parts are being shipped in a heavy lawnmower box. I can ship this with Greyhound PackageXpress for a lot less money if you like; you will just have to pick it up at your nearest Greyhound terminal. I might trade for a OM617 (300D) manual transmission flywheel or new dealer parts for a 1980 W116 300SD...

UPDATE: Apparently I can ship this with USPS Parcel Post to the west coast for about $70, and to the east cost for about $110.
