FS: 1980 300TD Engine and Trans
Hello all,
I'm getting prepped and ready to swap engines out of Norm to make him turbo Norm, so I figured I might as well list my engine now just to be safe. Engine currently has 230K on it and is still in the car. It runs really well, only smokes a little at startup, and has never given me any problems. However it does need some attention, which is why I want to drop in a newer turbo motor instead of rebuild this one. The engine has NO EGR on it. Currently it uses about a quart of oil every 2500 miles, which isn't too bad. It does leak about a quarter size drop every night, so it will need to have it's gaskets replaced. I'm not 100% sure of where it comes from, but an engine gasket kit isn't too bad and it's much easier to do with the engine out of the car. Injectors could also use a rebuild, as I'm fairly certain that these are the original ones and have never been touched. It also needs a valve stem and seal job done, as there is a decent amount of blowby. Other than that I have had zero issues with the engine and it runs very strong. Honestly, it's been like this ever since I've owned it and you could probably keep driving it as is, but I don't want any surprises. If it were me getting this engine I would do all of the above things to it and not have to worry about it for another 10+ years. I will be taking three parts off of the engine, but otherwise it comes complete minus accessories (AC compressor, alternator, PS pump, etc.). The parts I will be taking are the shut off valve, primer pump, and SLS valve. I will be needing them for my new engine, and they aren't really cheap parts. I have never had an issue with my trans either. It has been flushed twice in my ownership and has always been refilled with DexIII. I have it dialed in right now in the car and it shifts very well with no flare or any other hassle. This is being included with the engine and I will not separate it. I will get some pictures soon and a video of it running. It is still in the car as we speak, and will stay there until a buyer is lined up. Price is FIRM at $500. It can be shipped but I would prefer local pickup. Feel free to ask any questions and I'll answer them as best as I can. Thanks, Colin |
