I have a set of 5 from a 79 240 I'd let go for $100. Chi-town to Columbus is far but not the worst thing ever to drive.

Not trying to mess anything up, but a 79 240 is going to have 14 x 5.5 wheels and a
300TD is going to have 14 x 6" wheels....

I will double check all mine, but I thought all real steel rims were 5.5s?

Just FYI...shipping via FedEx for 4 x 25# boxes is roughly $65. So shipping is not all that bad. Especially for me because there is no one in my area with these wheels.

I will get all the numbers of my spares to see if sizes match and post details.
Very curious now, I figured all steel rims are the same

DieselPaul offered a nice price!

I think I only have 4 left, but you may want a steel spare too or keep a set of the longer lugs handy if using your alloy spare (they take different length lugnuts!)
I do not have any lugs left at this point though.

Let me know if you still need my set of 4?
The hub caps do look classy!

Nope. 240D has 5.5 wheels, 300D and 300TD has 6" wheels. CD has 6" wheels at least in the US.

So am I dumb trying to 5.5's on a 300TD? Should I have them widened?

I don't think you are dumb trying and I don't have a strong opinion. Lots of people have used 5.5 wheels instead of 6" wheels. I'm just saying it isn't the stock wheel size for the car. Other than that, I have no opinion. UNLESS you want fatter tires, then it matters. If you are using 195/70/14 or smaller then it is a non-issue in my opinion.

I agree X2. I have them on my wife's wagon. 205/70/14 tires, no issues.

FWIW, 205/70/14 is the largest size you can put on 5 1/2" wheels, and not all 205/70/14 are spec'd for that size wheel. If you look at the details for a tire on-line, it will show you the range of rim widths that are OK for a given tire.

I learned something new this morning about the steelies, thanks guys

I just sold the factory set off my 1977 300D and they were 6" width

I have 5 rims for sale, a match set from 1979 and one spare
they are all 5.5" so might be off a 240D

In case you are interested: 1960s-1980s Mercedes Benz 14" X 5.5" Steel Wheels 111 114 115 116 123

I wouldn't mind shipping them. Just throwing it out there. They are currently on my daily driver, so I'd have to have the tires dismounted first. This is assuming the five steel-look wheels I want to use aren't bent.
