Dang skippy thats crazy, you can buy a complete 240/300 with those rims on it for that much, who on earth pays that much for 30 year old rims to save 48lbs? Rotational weight is a big deal if you are racing I guess but why not buy a fresher engine if your going to drop a grand, or at least let foose machine you up a set.

It's not remotely crazy. People spend lots more than that on a set of wheels and here we are talking about a performance enhancement for a Pagoda or 190SL or... that can basically still look like stock instead of _bling_. $1000 is less than I have _ever_ sold a set of 6" wheels for, and I've sold many 6" sets to customers all over the world.

Maybe not for your W123 owners but definitely for your W111 coupe owners and your W113 owners...

True. But one day soon someone will need a set of these for their 240D to be correct. I'm sort of glad mine has steel wheels. I just need to replace one since it's a light weight aluminum wheel to have a matching set. I might even buy another set of correct steel wheels just to have them

These didn't come on 240d's, they use 5.5" x 14", very few 300d's came with these 6" x 14" and are much, much harder to find.

You don't PUT these wheels on a 240D or a 300D or a 280E. You take them off of those cars and put them on expensive cars. I bought a 300D for the wheels, swapped on a set of Bundts and sold the car and broke even on the car and scored a set of wheels. Too much work but I did it. And as a result, I have more wheels than anyone I know of. Buy the wheels from the OP. I won't sell that cheap. But don't buy them for a W123.

WOW I need to go put a larger chain around my 3 6" ones in the back....

To help the debate, these rims look sweet polished and stuck on a euro or lowered benz....but at these prices, I would rather go with 15" BBS rims....

Please post a pic if you have seen these polished. I tried stripping one which was a failure (the paint would only come off a little) but would like to see a polished one. As for the aesthetics of 15" BBS rims however, well I'll be silent now...

As luck may have it, I just can't seem to locate that photo now. If you are to strip them....you will need to use a special stripper made for aluminum...as many on the market will pit and eat at the alloy. I have one that is flaking paint, and it is giving me ideas

If you are going for the polished look why not just get a set of CLK alloy wheels.

Ahh that makes a bit more more sense in relation to a 100k$ car. I passed up a set on a rusted out 240d a while back I'll pay more attention....

The wheels on the 240D would have been 5 1/2" wide, which is less pricey and more common FWIW. Still GREAT wheels to put on a car.

5 wheels and 4 complete hubcaps with rubber boots, they are worth more I guess. will have to do some more research............................

damn I could have offered delivery in MI or IN. leaving at 6am. D'OH
timing is everything
