WTB Timing Chain Crimp Tool

Need to do some chains and I want to own the tool rather than rent. Before I buy a new one, anyone have one sitting around they don't need anymore?

Would prefer the kind that can do both Single Row and Dual Row, or the kit that comes with two tools.

Let me know what you have!

Split one?

I want one too. Maybe we could figure out a way to go in together on one. If you bought one new I would buy it from you for half what you paid? I don't know. I want to do this job but I'm not in a hurry.

I get to the Columbus area several times a year.

With 14 Benzes registered and on the road and many more coming and going, I want to own the tool as I will be doing more than one chain over the next few years. I am just going to buy a new one, but I figured I'd try to save a couple of bucks first. w123suv you're welcome to borrow it once I finally order one.

Thanks for the link Tristan.

It looks like a new one will set one back around $200 or maybe a hair less. I don't think there are any Chinese clones out there yet. Anyone brave enough to send one thru Alibaba to get one made?

I think most people who make the leap to buying tools like these ones tend to want to keep hold of them - but sometimes people "retire"!

So far I have managed to avoid getting one by always removing the crank (!) so I can loop a riveted whole chain around the bottom of the moving bits - so far the friendly chief mechanic at the local MB dealership has crimped my chains for me...

I'd be happy to rent it from you dieselpaul. I contacted someone in the tool rental section but didn't hear back. Since I have family in Ohio I will hit you up sometime.
