Wanted: W115 HELLA Fog Lamp
One of the fog lamps on my W115 is getting a bit worse for wear. I was wondering if anybody here has any extra fog lamps they would be willing to part with. The fog lamp doesn't have to be in perfect shape - just so long as it works it'll do.
Below is a photograph of the desired type of fog lamp: |

Hi-
Yes, I have a pair off a 1973 280 (w114) which I will never use. Based on your post, I assume you only need one. I have them in a tub in the crawlspace below our house. I will look them out. I can take a picture of them for you and you can decide if you are interested in either of them (or both). In the meantime, will you ponder what a fair price would be? I know it isn't totally fair to put that responsibility on you, but I personally would rather not take the time to figure out their value. I will post later once I have a picture or two.

Okay, so I dragged them out, but their condition is not ideal. On the outside, they look great. The glass is nice and the chrome is great. But the reflector chrome on the inside is peeling on both of them. Is this is the same thing that happened to your current lamp. Before I spend a lot of time cleaning them, do you have any interest still in a lamp which has internal damage to the reflector surface. If you need them for actual fog lamp use, my pair (in their current condition) would not be that useful.
I know there are ways to use metal tape or spray paint to improve the internal optics, but that can be more of a hassle than you may have wanted. If you primarily want them to look cool on the exterior of your car, then I think one of mine would suit you well. I will open them up further and try to get you a pic of the damage.

Man, after opening them up, you may want to look elsewhere. Let me know if these have any value to you. If your outside is bad, but internals are good, I am happy to ship you just part of them.
As an aside, don't let anyone ever tell you that California cars don't rust. I only have up close experience with two w114/w115s (both CA cars) and both had rust issues. Ugh.

Thank you very much for taking the time to take some photos of those fog lamps. They're almost the type I need - only difference is the ones in my car take H3 halogen bulbs. The bulb holder in my driver's side lamp is in pretty tough shape, leading to intermittent connection failure.

No worries. Sorry I wasn't able to help. Hopefully someone here has what you need.
