Clutch Alignment Tool SC, NC
Does anyone in the Greenville SC, or Charlotte NC area have a clutch alignment tool or broken 240D 4speed transmission they'd be willing to sell or let me borrow?
Apparently the local parts stores don't carry clutch alignment tools and can't order them. I swear I've purchased them in the past. I want to do some work this weekend and would rather not wait for Pelican to ship me one. |

I use a 3/8 drive extension with duck tape wrapped around until it is snug in the clutch disc. Use this for centering the disc. The socket drive fits into the hole of the pilot bearing. I have done four mercedes clutches this way without issue.

insert screwdriver handle that's smaller than the spline diameter. Snug up the PP until it holds the disc but you can still easily move it. move it up a bit, remove screwdriver, eyeball location, repeat until its centered.

Thanks everyone! Used the 3/8 drive and tape method yesterday afternoon and the trans is back in with no problems.
