Mechanics tend to be a bit more pragmatic; I'll post his new whip tomorrow.

I've got 40 years in and around the car business, that car was an easy fix.

Which would you Rather drive? The above is AWD, and we are in CO... He Could have fixed it, but why put 3K in a 3k car? Why not take that 3k and put it towards 18k? 0-60 is 5.5, versus 7 seconds, btw.

When does it start snowing there? I actually wouldn't mind a road trip to pick up a bunch of parts right now - as long as it is before the snow, LOL.

Normally it doesn't snow that much. Last winter was a dumper, so we'll just have to see. Probably late November for significant snow. December is the coldest and by the end of January it starts to warm up and most of the worst snow usually starts around then, if there is any.

The last couple years it's been very rainy, including right now.

I'd drive the car with character ( the older one ). It would not take 3 K to fix , more like a door and a few days metal work. ( maybe $ 500 + own labor )

My point was that it seems like a waste of an otherwise good car to part it out. ( Unless there are issues that are not apparent in the pics. )

Perhaps I'm spoiled, 18 K is 3 x what I paid for my very nice condition SL in 2011 and the SL was over 6x what I typically pay for a car. ( Granted when I get a car it usually gets a full make over including engine / trans rebuilds. And I'm still under what the going rate for a running driving car costs. )

Props to fahrvergnugen for the fast ship - am installing the parts now.

Rotor stem looks rusty, should I put some lube on it while it is open?

Tell me what you mean by 'rotor stem'...

There's no rust on there, but there is a minor amount of what I'd call' flashing', it's the residue that's left over from ignition jumping from one bit to another... Ie, I Think you are describing normal wear.

Sorry, I meant the stem attached to the car that you screw the rotor on to, not what you sent.

Anyway, the car is running again....

Many thanks to fahrvergnugen for the parts - so far, very good replacement.

Looking to purchase some more parts from fahrvergnugen as soon as I can figure out how to ship some larger pieces....
