It is really just a great RARE trans so i posted in parts also


here is the CL ad. couldn't edit my other ad so updating, complete car with 717.400 trans shifts fine (aside from leaking clutch)

lots of good euro parts also like manual everything and OK cloth interior.

I get lots of questions RE: the condition of the car, so to be clear AGAIN

lots of things are bad about it. I am not selling the car, just the transmission. You get the car for freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

It is generally in poor shape but has many usable parts and runs and drives. rust water incursion, poor paint, leaks, sealed sunroof.

This ad isn't about the car, that 240d is just a helpful way to transport the 5 speed. save it if you want but I wouldn't............

I would really like to sell or trade this car over the next winter. I have moved out to the Southwest and will only be on the east coast for a few weeks around the holidays.


Will be taking offers and taking trades for either a Toyota pickup xcab 4cly 4wd 1985-1995 or a good running om617.952 in a complete car. I don't care about the body on the w123, just engine mechanicals only. I will be swapping into a/the truck. If you had both that would be great!!

Hey RJ ,

Someone pointed me toward your post.

I'm in the middle of sourcing a decent 300D and thinking of a stick swap in the spring.

I did a 5 speed swap on a TDI PASSAT a few years back and got everything in from Holland.
I know the 4 speeds are fairly plentiful but 5,S are rare.
How was clutch on this and did you ever change it out. No slippage etc.

I'm in NY and would have it shipped if it works out.
Can you give me a ballpark on outright sale.
