WTB: Functional Smog Pump for 1978 280ce
I'm trying to get the emissions system in my '78 280ce back in order. Car passes California SMOG currently, without it, but not by much. The one on the car is seized.
Does anyone have a functional pump kicking around or otherwise not being used? Thanks in advance! Greg, in San Francisco

If a belt pump can't be found, 97 and up C280 / E320 / SL320 used an electric motor pump that could be adapted. These were probably used on other models in that era as well. The clutch trigger wiring isn't strong enough so use that to trigger a relay coil. The contacts need to go to a 40 A fuse and the battery.
An alternate solution is to find a 99 ish S-10 Blazer or 99 ish Ford Taurus as they used an electric pump as well. |

pm sent. It's from a 1979 280E I'm parting, may be the same for 78 280CE. Thought the whole car would be gone by now but finding time to pull the parts I want (M110 injection bits) is rather difficult.
