In search of a european headlight for the left side. Need entire assembly. New or used.. preferably new though. Let me know who has what and for what price they're willing to sell. Thanks and God bless.

Hi peter..

When I was purchasing the lights, the seller made it appear as though a pair were being sold together. The price was really low(I should have gotten a clue there) but anyways.. I get an email back from the seller asking for which I wanted, left or right. I was sort of surprised when he askes me this and I told him I thought this was for a pair. Apparently it wasn't. So instead of losing more $ on getting a wire transfer back, I told him to just send me the right one. I recieved the right one the other day and the quality looks pretty good. The brand is "TYC" and has a made in Taiwan stamp on the back of the lamp. However, I am not complaining abou the quality. It also has a vacuum actuator for the lights, although I doubt I would really spend time to hook this feature up.

Instead of going through the hassle of purchasing from Germany again, I decided perhaps there is a better source and much faster, too, here on the forum.

I emailed importvision and I am waiting for a responce. I will see what happens.

One thing I noticed about EURO lights... they're huge! I have it lying on a shelf in my room right now and I never realized the size before.

Import Vision carries, or at least did carry, the TYC brand Euros for the W126's. They are of good quality and very comparable to the OEM Euros. I believe they used to charge somewhere around $250 for a set. If they still have them and are willing to sell them individually I would guess that the price would be somewhere between $125 and $200 per side. I'd be interested to know whether they will sell you one individually, in case I ever need to replace one. Please post back and let us know what they say.

I got an email back from Ken and he's will sell me one side that I wanted for $125 plus shipping. I talked him down from the $150+ shipping he originally wanted.

Thanks for the help guys.. take care

BTW... I will need the 6hole connector, right? Also.. my headlight didn't come with any bulbs. Any recommendations? I want a nice bright light.. somewhat like a HID system look, if possible. Let me know

You'll need two of each of the following for the installation of your two lights:

006 545 80 28 (socket)
009 545 30 28 (cover)

Get them from your local MB dealer. They'll probably be less than $10 for all four pieces. A few people have acted surprised before that these lights don't come with the sockets and covers. We should remember that the replacement Euro lights we are buying are designed to go into cars already equipped for this style light so it is assumed that your car already has the correct plugs. Since we are retrofitting US cars with something that wasn't supposed to go into them we have to make some minor modifications. Some sellers, however, are generous enough to get these plugs and sockets and sell theirs as a "kit" with all the pieces. Ironically, these are often the people wanting $500+ for them. Obviously, it seems to be a better idea to assemble your own 'kit' for less money.

As far as the bulbs are concerned, I'm pretty sure it is set up to use H4 bulbs for the high/low output and H3 bulbs for the fogs. They also use a 5W city light, which would require extra wiring to utilize. Any standard bulb you run in these Euros will be such a dramatic improvement and I would personally stick with a good standard bulb rather than an overwattage bulb. Some have recommended the Philips Vision Plus H4 bulbs. You could get some halogen bulbs that mimic HID lighting but they are said to decrease output because they often use a blue coating on the bulb. You could also get true HID retrofit kits for use in an H4 mount. This would probably look good but the light pattern could be compromised as the design of the lens and reflector isn't optimized for the way HID light is emitted. However, I've heard that H4 to HID conversions work better than some other halogen to HID conversions so the results may be reasonably good, if you opt to go that route.

www.powerbulbs.com

try the philips vision plus 50%. i have these and so do many others here. standard wattage, a very nice WHITE light.

h3's for fogs. i would stick with standard 55 watts. i think just the standard halogen, a slight yellow white light will 'see' thru the fog better.

if you liked your u.s. 'yellow' fogs, CAREFULLY remove the yellow glass baloons. then remove the u.s. fog bulb-holders, equally carefully remove the new ones and put the old ones in, then add the baloons.

i think the tyc's city lights are 194's. if you e-mail me privately i will send you 2 pairs [free] of bluish ones from powerbulbs. my euros take the t4w.

Hello ebennz.. I will email you shortly. (don't have much time now.. I took a break from writing my physics paper )

I have another question since I got a reply back from import vision. The light that I currently have is made by TYC. ImportVision has DEPO brand. Is there a difference between the 2? Will I have a problem by having 2 different brands?

autorice is a dealer with a BAD ebay track record

snibble

BE WARNED !!

speedracer aka autorice is a dealer.

he is NOT supposed to solicit BUSINESS here [or any other dealer]

check his ebay track record, it SUCKS!

over and over again people buy stuff and it doe not get shipped.

he may be a advertiser at bnzsport.com, BUT this is bill and benzmac's place here!

check with phil at parts shop for the single tyc light you need.

follow up...

One more question...

Will there be any sort of problem if you have one light thats a new TYC brand and the other light be a new Bosch brand? Looks like thats whats going to happen.

I recieved emails back from importvision and the original seller and they each said I can have either a Depo or TYC brand for $125 shipped. I did some online searches and stumbled across an auction which appears to be too good to be true. I was the highest bidder and its for a "new" Bosch left headlight. The bid ended at 55,51 Euro.. and I am thinking shipping should be no more than $30. So Essentially I could be getting a new Bosch brand headlight for around $90

Hopefully this transaction will follow through.

"Sie bieten auf einen neuen Hauptscheinwerfer von der Firma Bosch passend für Mercedes S-Klasse Typ W 126 alle Modelle von Baujahr 80 bis 91. Der Scheinwerfer ist neu und für die linke Seite. Die Bosch Nr. lautet: 0 301 065 309. Schauen Sie auch auf meine anderen Auktionen."

have you already bought the bosch euro light?

you could either sell the bosch or buy a 'bosch' lens, so they would look alike.
