'79 300 SD--parting out
 

I just bought a 1979 300 SD (type 116) for parts. I towed it home, so anything you want is strictly "as is." I'm planning on keeping the engine and wheels, but as far as I know the rest is up for grabs. This is my first post for about 18 months and I don't have internet at the moment. The windshield has been out of this car for what looks like several years, so some interior parts are rotted. However, the door panels and headliner appear to be in salvageable condition. By the way, the inerior is blue. The whole car is intact and most everything is still there, so if you need an SD part, chances are it's there.

I cracked open the valve cover yesterday and the camshaft is pitted and frozen in place, so I may be parting out the engine if interested.

Is it just the camshaft that's frozen, or is the entire engine frozen/seized?

If it's "just" frozen, how much would you want for the complete engine? A friend of mine is looking into getting a 240D with a bad engine and putting an OM617 turbo in, and he's actually wanting to do a rebuild (he wants to see how much power can be gotten out of it :D).

I need the blower motor and the climate control panel with the buttons. Does the climate control system work if you hook up the battery?

MIne is 1980 I pretty sure they are the same car
