Valley is a bunch of crooks and very unfriendly. I would recommend R&H if you need to stick with a dealer. If you are out of warranty, Beaver Dam Mercedes off Warren Rd and Beaver Dam Rd have an excellent service department, and are very courteous.

How about a shop near Frederick/Hagerstown?

Need to have my tranny worked on (722.6). Any suggestions for the Frederick/Hagerstown (MD) area (dealer included)?

Thanks.

In Baltimore area: German Auto Service in Jessup (off Rt 175) is best by far. Especially great service and reasonable $$$$$$ 410-799-5787

Mid Shore Imports

I can highly recommend Mid Shore Imports in Easton, MD. I drive more than 1 hour to reach this shop. Don't be alarmed by the way it looks - let's say they put their money in function rather than form. Dewey Reed is fair and knowledgeable, and has treated me well and takes great care of my car. Not affiliated, just a satisfied customer. 410-822-0022.

Maryland Service shops in Annapolis area

Stay away from Chhay's...all my experience with him was terrible, he's trouble from the word "go".

Steve USED to work for Chhay and got sick of it, he's a decent guy and a pretty good MB wrench. He's honest.

I reiterate about Mamock's- no shop is perfect, but they have yet to mess anything up on my cars and they like and know old MBs. They are also very good at electrical problems which most shops don't care to work on. They just did a comprehensive service on my 6.3, including a new RH side front window regulator- car runs great. They are not cheap, but they are honest and fair and work hard. They are also good race car fabricators, if you're into that....AND, they can work on Astons. Now, very few people here have Astons, if they have any brains- they are wretched cars- but anyone who can repair an Aston knows what they are doing. They are a maintenance nightmare.

I have yet to see a dealer MB shop that is worth a pinch of ****, I'm sorry, almost every time I have gone to a dealer for anything other than an oil change I have been sorry. They charge way too much, they take too long, etc. And some of these service mgrs are friends of mine- but my opinion stands. Dealers are for buying new cars and doing warranty repairs- which modern MBs need a great deal of.

AVOID Autobahn Service Center in Rockville, Md.

Had valves adjusted and fuel lines replaced on my diesel. Requested braided lines. Car came back with vacuum disconnected and they denied. About 3 weeks later fuel lines started to leak again damaging my street's asphalt. My best guess is they replaced with regular fuel line instead of diesel. My valve cover gasket didn't look new either so I suspect they didn't even adjust my valves.

Ned and wife seem okay yet the son worked on my car and he was sloppy. Stay away, Mark

I can check your valves for you if you don't mind coming to Frederick. Plus- your valve cover gasket should be new, thats easy to tell.

Thanks for the offer...

am just going to adjust my own. Do it on other cars actually just wanted a pro to do it first just after purchase. Of course some pros are only "professional" because they get paid. I do appreciate your offer and wish I lived closer to Frederick. A good rep is everything. Thanks again, Mark

Moving to Maryland Soon

I'm moving to Baltimore in a couple of months. There are not too many recent suggestions for good mechanics in the Baltimore area, but from the older postings, two seem to have gotten good reviews, Star in Towson and German Auto in Jessup. Is that still the case?

Thanks.

Can't help you with indies in Balto. However, IMHO, the best MB dealership in the Balto. area is R&H, just west of Balto. Good parts and service- Honest- but not cheap.

Cool Baltimore Repairs.

Stay away from STAR he will charge you a fortune. As well, the dealers are costly. They mostly throw parts at problems and do not diagnose. It took me 4 years to find a guy here and he is excellent. He is moving his shop in a few weeks to a new location. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my car. He is from the Middle east and has been in this country for many years (25) If you are not Middle East phobic . I'll post his name and new address when he is finished his move!

Do NOT go to Cockeysville Mercedes an independant. He is a thief!

I think once you move to the area you'll see lots of Benz driving around and good suggestions for repairs.

STAR motors is good, been in business for some time, stable.

The two MB dealerships aren't bad ( pricey ) if you hang around either of their part departments you can get a good feel for what is going on.

There was a story of an independent in Cockeysville on York Rd. that had tax trouble a few years back, not positive of the name and I don't want to guess.

Baltimore City has very aggressive towing and car break-ins.
The heroin epidemic means thieves will enter a car just to get pennies.
