a good one in shadyside

Joga's
on Baum Blvd.
I don't have the address but it's listed in the 'yellow pages'
(next block from the BM W dealer)
412.682.5255

the mechs worked for the dealership until the dealer moved to Cranberry Twp.
they stayed and formed their own indy shop. I went there about leaking fuel injection overflow lines. they were too busy to do the repair in a timely way so the owner sold me the fuel line and had a mechanic come out and show me how to do it myself. no labor cost-- i had to love them. needless to say they stay pretty busy, so you should call ahead.

If southern jersey isn't too far, I've gone to:

Stuttgart German Car Service in Southampton (rts 70 & 206) only does MB work. http://www.onlybenz.com/index.html

Brother to Brother in Medford does (mostly) European cars. They are Tire Rack recommended installers.

I Service Imports in Cherry Hill was recommended to me by a porsche owner, but i've not had any work done there.

Dealers in Eastern, Pa

Good day, all.

It looks like my crankshaft pulley on my 00 E320 wagon will not make it until I get MB tells me it is my turn. The rubber is not evenly seated against the housing (only by a very small bit, but it is the beginning of the end). It has a slight wobble look when I use a light to look at it from the top.

Although I try to be a DIY'er, I am not going to even attempt the pulley repair myself. Normally when the job is more than I can handle, I take my cars to the best and most honest independent repair shop - Walter's Foreign Cars in Bethlehem, Pa. However, since it is covered at the dealer...

Would anyone be able to recommend a MB dealer in Eastern Pa that I can trust? Walter has me spoiled with excellent service. I am terribly picky about torque, etc and like anyone else, I want the job done correctly. The three dealers I know of in the area are:

Knopf
Tom Masano
Keenan

Thanks.

www.mbusa.com has a link to search dealerships at every state nationwide... R&S is in Fort Washington but the new R&S
Service Facility is now located at 1401 Dreshertown Road, Dresher, PA 19025.

You also have MB of Devon and MB of Cherry Hill (in NJ, 15 mins from Philly)... many more info on the mbusa website... good luck!

Work is done

Summary
I highly recommend Knopf Mercedes in Allentown, PA

Experience
Knopf Automotive was recently renovated, so I had no idea what to expect when I arrived for my appointment. It is truly a beautiful building and setup. The service lounge is awesome. Complimentary coffee, bottled water, pastries, fruit, wireless internet, etc. It was like a coffee shop.

The service advisors were polite and my car went into the shop area straight away. They were immediately familiar with the crankshaft pulley campaign and said it would be checked by a mechanic.

Within an hour, my advisor, John, came into the lounge. The state inspection went a little bad for me and my savings - front brakes, front rotors, lower ball joints, alignment all needed. He took me into the shop and introduced me to the mechanic, Howie. Howie showed me the items needed and then we took a look at the crankshaft pulley. I showed him where the rubber had moved and he agreed it was not even. However, the pulley had been replaced by the previous owner at 48k miles, only about two hundred miles before I bought the car. The part number on the pulley was not covered by the campaign, so I was going to have to pay. They were very nice about it and recommended I either call MB and/or hold onto the pulley until I get a letter from MB. I told them to change it anyway so that I have the latest part number and because the rubber sleeve had moved. I also had them put a new belt and tensioner on while they were in there. John told me they would replace the crank seal at no charge. He said MB should be covering it anyway.

After I left, I called MB. The rep was very nice and said she would call the dealer. I found out later the pulley, crankshaft bolt, and seal were all covered by MB. The rest of it was a big ouch in the pocket, but worthwhile.

I was happy to find they had my car washed before I picked it up. I checked under the hood and, minus the new pulley and belt, you wouldn't have known anyone was working in there. The car ran great and felt smoother. The mechanic put my old belt in the trunk in a box so that I would have a spare. I checked my lug bolts - hand torqued. Money shot!

Overall, I couldn't have been treated better and more fairly. The advisor, mechanic, and MB rep were professional and caring. Check out Knopf if you are in Allentown. Great service. Ask for John when you call and request Howie for repairs. Two thumbs up!

Phila PA area shop

OK, this is my second indie and I'm now happy. The first guy was fast but at $90 and hour a bit steep. (MB Auto in Glenolden PA).
Now I'm using Rex Carle Auto in Exton ... this guy is good! Fairly priced $72hr. Uses only OEM parts and really works to repair anything that can be instead of just ordering new parts. He has a friends 70 280SL and has saved her a few bucks over just replacing very expensive parts that can be repaired.
If you need him just call 610-363-7044, he's on Lincoln Hwy in Exton PA.
Turned on to him by another member. Thanks Dude.

Great shop Philadelphia, PA

Bennett car service in northeast philadelphia.

Had a leak in my transmition on my 2000 s430, took it to a few places got crazy estimates for various nonsense and gasket. Took it to this place took care of the problem, replaced O-rings and a connector and no more leak. Way cheaper than the other places that tried to sell me gaskets I didn't need.

Recommened the place to a friend of mine he took his Volvo s80 there thats been at towed to 4 places and nobody could get it started. Don't know the whole story but I know he's picking his car up after they get the brakes.

*edit*
Ohh yeah some info wouldn't hurt, they are located on Bennett Rd. of Roosevelt Blvd, took me forever to find the place its between byberry and redlion. Give them a call 215-676-4987.

He has tuned-up and fixed a number of things on our cars including a few "unsolvable" issues. Knows the cars (40 years experience), loves the cars, does fantastic work, willing to talk shop, and reasonable. In summary - The guy.
he grabbed a window assembly off one of his husk's out back and a nice oil change (suck not drain)

later this summer he converted my AC over and did a beatifull job of that along with a detailed of list what needed to be done and the cost of same.

Walter is really into it....

So you are happy with Walter?
I live in Allentown and may start going to him.
Thanks

There is also Star Service Center on N Graham St in East Allentown.
Neil does pretty good work; their number is 610-437-3374.

Thanks Robert. I will check them out as well.
My ML320 needs some work on front pads and rotors.
Knopf wanted >$400 to do the work!
I have been going to Knopf and while their work is good,
their rates appear outta this world. I recently needed a MAF sensor in my ML320. They charged me $384 for part and nearly 200 in labor to install. The same part is listed on the Scranton MB dealer's site at $307.
So, I am exploring the idea of using an indep shop that is reliable and knows how to work on MBs. My other car is a BMW and I would like to have the same guy work on both if possible.
