Thumbs up Great dealer in Annapolis, MD

For those in the Annapolis/Baltimore area, try MB of Annapolis. Very honest!! and that's hard to find. They'll repair, when possible, instead of automatically selling you new parts.

Yeah, I would have to agree 100%. The guys down there are extremely cool.

Just don't go to Silver Star down the street

Agreed! I have worked with them during my trips to Annapolis beginning in the mid-1980's. Were Benson Motors. Must have changed their name. I have not been there in 4 years or so.

MB of annapolis

They WERE Benson Motors, for decades. Benson then sold the shop to Mile One, which is a chain of dealerships, I don't know how big. They are pretty good on service for minor stuff- they did an oil change and lube etc on my 111 cabriolet the other day. They don't work on a lot of older cars- the technician was younger than the car. I agree about Silverstar. I have posted another thread on an independent repair shop here in Naptown that does AC and electrical work who are VERY good indeed.

MB of Annapolis

This is a great dealership if you like the following:

-very high prices. Oh, and they try to sell you everything they can think of.
-treat their staff like crap. The turnover is unbelievable.
-NO discount on parts for DIY guys like me. List for everything. Or more.

MB of Annapolis has TWO expensive buildings, both put up in the last year or so, and a huge overhead. YOU get to pay for that when they service your car. No, thanks.

Frankly, new MB cars are not worth much; they are overpriced, unreliable, and don't perform especially well. Each one ought to have the keys to a Toyota in the glove box so you'll always have a car to drive...new MB dealers are on a par with new MB cars. A close friend who used to be the service mgr at a very large MD Mercedes dealership told me that on any given day 55% of the service work in the shop was warranty. By comparison, in a Toyota shop on a bad day they have 10% warranty work on the floor, if that. MB cars are not well-made anymore.

Dealership mechanics are not much good on the older cars like I have. If you have a modern MB which has computers in it, etc, it may be worth going to the dealer for diagnostics. But watch your back pocket or you'll find someone's hand in your wallet. ...

Was Benson, now bend...?

Jim:

I take it something has happend between you and them recently to rekindle this thread.

I did stop by their off-the-water loation in October 2006 for new wiper blades in a torrential downpour. The parts counter gave me a little grief on my MBCA card in my wallet being expired, but did grant me the 10% club discount. A Service Advisor changed the wipers for me in their apparently new drop-off/pick-up bay pro bono. Not much, but it all helps. Certainly did not offset the club member fees that year as my old ('86) SDL still gives me good service with relatively low costs and reasonable fuel economy. The depreciation on a new MB or Toyota would be greater disregarding the opportunity of having the money in an investment with a return.
