New batteries in the keyless remote - ML320

I just replaced the batteries in my spare keyless remote but don't know how to get the receiver programmed to accept it again. It's batteries were absent for about 3 months. Any way to avoid the dealer?

try this and let me know if it works

Turn key in steering lock to position 2, then to position 0 and remove. Within 60 seconds, push and hold the lock button for 15 seconds, now push unlock button 5 times. Then check all functions

More like this:
Key to position 2 (ON position), then turn off and remove key.
Hold down "lock" button, and push "unlock" button 5 times within 10 seconds. Then release buttons and push either the lock or unlock button to confirm operation.

Carson, your way was pretty much correct, it just has to get done within 10 seconds (including the last step where you confirm operation).
Earlier models you had to press the unlock button more like 10 times in 10 seconds, so it really had to be done fast.
