Dashboard bulb replacement

I have a 98 ML320 based in the UK. After having encountered most common issues on this truck I now have a further iminor issue. The backlight for the heater / fan controls in the centre of the dash is blown. How the heck do I change it.
Local dealer quoted that is was a dealer job and would take a couple of hours !! (I cant believe this)

Can anyone offer some guidance please?

Thanks

You access the bulbs by removing (pulling off) the dials for the 3 controls (fan/temp/mode), you will see them kind of down in a pair of holes. They say you can pull and reinstall them with a small rubber tube like a vacuum hose or something, maybe a tweezers would work?

Just like Gilly said - its that easy. I replaced mine using a pair of tweezers. The bulb cost something like $8 from my local indie shop (they actually gave it to me as I was having other service done at the same time).

Gilly , many thanks , just as you said. Took 2 minutes with a pair of tweezers. Found just one small bulb behind the central heater switch. Dealer cost £1.20 (approx $2.40)
Thanks

I have bulbs out behind the fuel guage and part of the speedo - been that way for a while because the dealer said about $300 - any guidance on this one would be appreciated.

I followed the instructions on that thread a few years ago and was able to perform the task in about 15 minutes. You can sure save a ton of money if you are patient and don't mind doing a few tasks yourself...
