1998 ML Sunroof Help

Just got a great deal on a 98 ML320.

The one problem it has is a sunroof seal tore and has wind noise, so i need to install new seals and possibly adjust the assembly so the seal does not rip off again.

Can anybody point me to a procedure, and what parts I need to buy? If I'm going to take this apart, I want to change anything else that may go bad in the near future as well.

Not sure what seal you are referring to, but I would guess it's the accordion-like ones that flank either side of the moonroof. Generally, you can gently press them back in place, but if they have indeed torn, then yeah, they need to be replaced.

The only thing that ever gave me an issue was the spring-loaded metal wind deflector assembly...one of the guide rods broke at the fastening point. MB only sells the whole assembly ($70). About a 15 minute task to replace.

To reduce wind noise almost entirely, purchase an aftermarket plexiglass wind deflector. Even with the top fully open, you can carry on a normal conversation in the cockpit!

Not the side pieces, and the wind defector works ok. This is a seal that is at the back of the opening. It looks like it just slides on somehow, but I can't figure it out. It would help if someone could post an parts explosion of the sliding roof.
