2000 ML Alarm - can it "chirp"?

Gilly, could you pls advise - can the alarm on my 2000 ML320 "chirp" in addition to the blinking of the lights when locking?

Pls advise if it can and how to get it to do this.

tks
A.

I don't have an answer to the question but why would you want to?

I always thought it a nice feature of MB to not have the annoying "look at me" noises when the system is locked and alarmed. I like my 124's alarm even more. Lock the doors and the alarm is on, no lights no noises, unless someone screws with the car.

I'd like to have the chirp (in addition to the lights blinking) as when walking away i don't have to look at the truck to make sure its locked. also in the sun, it's hard to see the lights blink.

the sound is an easy (and effortless) confirmation the vehicle is locked and the sound of the locks going "clunk" doesn't cut it.

Gilly - can you help me here?

tks
m.

As far as I know it can't. If someone was to rummage around in the AAM with the SDS machine it would be interesting just to double-check. Even if the option to do this was found, I still doubt it would work, at least not a "chirp". Maybe uses the horn, it would almost have to, no electronic "chirping" device exists on the truck.

Getting the horn to do the "chirp" (guessing this would be a beep like my VW GTI) would be fine. Wonder if this could be set in the computer at the shop...

Anyone's input/experience would be appreciated.

tks

That's what I'd suggest is having a tech look through the AAM programming. The ML alarm uses the truck's horn, so there would be no chirp or even a soft beep, it'd blow the horn if it does it at all.
