ML 400 CDI - Engine trouble

Hi, I just bought a ML 400 CDI and just love it. Someone told me that theese engines has a weakness that can result in the balance axle can become unaligned and that the engine begines to vibrate at certain rpm's. Does anyone know abot this or whether MB takes any responsibility in case this occurs.

Hi Cato,

I own one of these trucks and have never heard of that defect.

What I have is a problem of different nature. Upon startup in the morning and also after maybe a couple of hours of not running the engine rattles for a couple of seconds then quiets down. If the engine is restarted within twenty or so minutes the rattling is not heard!

Incidentally, the twenty or so minutes used to be a lot longer ( The aforementioned two hours, maybe even longer) but it has been declining steadily.

Do you have a similar issue with yours? Or have you heard of anything similar to this?

Good luck finding a solution to your engine's problem.

Omar.

Hi

Thanks for your responce,,

Rattel noises in diesels(or so it has been in my earlier diesel engines.) seems to be more noticeable when engine is below normal operating temperature Why time intervals change however I have no good idea of.. However you should have the codes read. I thought my truck ran just fine, but after beeing in the workshop yesterday they found that one injector was malfunctioning as well as a rail pressure valve or something like that. (Total cost abot $1200) My car has about 40000 miles on the meter and i think it's strange that the injectors are staring to lay off.

Anyone else that have similar experinces?
