Refurb Shop in USA?

Hi,

I have a 1993 300GE 5 door that I imported from Switzerland (bought when I lived there) It has about 90,000 total miles.

I am considering sending it back to a refurb shop in Germany but would prefer to pay an American company if I can find the right skills. The car is basically sound but it's never been peppy enough for me so I'd like to discuss having the engine re-built. It also needs brake work, new carpet and some interior bits like an arm rest and a the label panel for the gear shifter.

Would be thankful for any advice on specific companies or individuals in the US who can perform the work. I can get parts from Germany/Austria if needed.

Thanks!

Europa International in Santa Fe, NM. Talk to Russ Leabch and tell him I referred you.

Thank you, Dutch.

I'm certain your suggestion is well founded but if you have another option I'd be happy to hear it. I decided when I imported my car that I could do it without Europa and I'm going to stay on that path.

By the way, my original post had a typo - it's a 300 GE, not CE. But you all knew that I suppose.

The cost in freight alone will be high. The MBCA magazine seems to talk a lot about Paul Russell company.

Or contact the MBCA for advise. Or the Mercedes Classic Center.

I bypassed Europa in 1984 when I went straight to Germany to purchase a 280GE for import back to the US, and have had a love hate relationship with them ever since. However, no matter which way you cut it, Europa still has the most experience with G's in the US. Even MB dealerships call on them to this day for their expertise.

That being said, I do hear some good things about Wolfgang's in NJ - Tenefly, I think.
