Sending Unit for ML adjustable?
A common problem I have been experiencing with my 2000 ML430 is the gas gauge works properly when I am about 2-3 gallons shy of a full tank. If I top off, the gauge faulters and the sending unit needs to be reset by disconnecting the plug at the rear left wheel. I remember reading a post regarding the alignment of an arrow on the sending unit to adjust the level displayed on the gas gauge. I am wondering if I could realign the sending unit, thus the signal to the gauge and fix this annoyance. If not, what part of the sending unit is it that reads the levels? I had my virtual calculation in the sending unit converted to read just the fluid level in an attempt to remedy the problem. I really don't want to replace the sending unit again, so any suggestions are appreciated.
