window switch

Does anyone know if it is possible to repair electric window switches on an ML270? Has the whole set of switches to be replaced? The drivers window will go down, but not close.Any ideas? Thanks:idea2:

johnw,
Welcome, the ML window switches are WEAK & an inner tab bends very easily and then the won't go back up..Best thing is to replace the complete assembly & use very light touch to operate them.

Hi. I have a similar issue that just happened tonight. The drivers side window went down but will not go up. It worked yesterday and I have never had any issues with the switches. So you think that the swith just went kaput? I can hear activation when I push the switch for the window to go down but no when I pull it for the window to go up. I took the assembly out and inspected it, but did not see anything. Probably because it is a module.

So based on what you said M.B.DOC, probable a switch assembly replacement is in order, correct?

I would appreciate help with this matter.

Well, I just went out on a limb because it made sense. I replaced the switch assembly and poof......works like a charm. Crazy that I have to replace two switches in less than a month....but they say things happen in pairs. So I should be good to go.

Only thing I am watching now is the fuel sending unit. It mysteriously read wrong on the last fill up. Full tank read 3/4 then 1/2 but was correct the next morning and has been since. Weird.

Anyway...thanks to mercedesshop.com for the help and M.B.DOC for indirect help on this one. ;)

Interesting. If I can repair the bad one I kept, then I will have a spare if I need to replace again.

I followed these repair directions about 6 weeks ago, and the windows have worked great ever since. Took less than an hour. Oh, just make sure you only remove the pieces that it says to, and you want to make sure you do the work on a white towel or something similar, as occasionally, a small brass spring or two will pop out, and you will need to put it back in. Otherwise a very simple repair. Hopefully, it will last for a while!

Agree. I used the directions and had success for the last 3-4 years with my repair. Took about 45 minutes or so. Refurbrish the spare and your repair is that much easier.
