Towing with a G (or an M-class) - factors determining capacities?

Looking at the hardware, I think what limits towing capacity is the hitch itself, which is only rated for 5,000 lbs. Also the rear springs sag quite a bit at the limit. Do Euro models use a different hitch, and/or stiffer rear springs?
