2002 ML 55 Power Steering R&R

Has anyone replaced a power steering pump on an ML V-8 engine? I'm looking for tips and tricks before I go at it in my garage this weekend.

Intermittent stiff steering................

Have you been experiencing this ????? l occasionly have this issue, where all of a sudden l will have extremely stiff steering...then it will go away...go figure..l'm assuming it must be the power steering pump.....:confused:
