Code 161 - dealer installed wrong O2 sensor??

Over a year ago, local MB dealer replaced bank 2 oxygen sensor 2 after CEL and codes 156, 161. The car is '99 ML320. The installed part # is 001 540 28 17, which is O2 sensor fitting 2000-2003 ML55AMG (supercharged V8?????). I should have got #001 540 60 17 (or 001 540 37 17 R/F). I have what appears to be a heater failure on that installed sensor. Same bank, same sensor, code 161 again. Would that ML55 sensor cause this premature O2 heater circuit failure?
Please help me solve this mystery.:book: :behead:

I have the same codes and am balking at the $98 price tag for a new sensor. They seem to be different part number for the rear sensor as apposed to the front, but this morning, I saw a Borg-Warner part that says it is a drop in replacement for both the front and the rear. (No connector)

Does anybody have any experience with this?

the first number seems correct, it will fit, both say after cat
ML 320 98-03
ML 430 99-01
ML 55 00-03

the ML55 is not supercharged

So is it common for this Bosch O2 sensor to fail after 15 months or 10K miles of service? The factory manual CD indicates a problem in resistance causes code 161, I just dont know if it is that barely new O2 sensor or wiring. Checked wiring and found nothing suspicious.
