CD Changer - 6 disk not showing on dash as existing. ???

I recently had my trailer brake box repaired and the shop reset my battery. Now after I put in the code to restart it, it doesn't show that I have a 6 disk changer anymore. The idiots that worked on my ML 430 2001, said I need to take it to the dealer, even though they broke it. Grrr.... Can anyone help?
It all worked just fine before.
Thanks!!!

Whenever we get that message we have to reinsert the cartridge, sometimes more than once. Sometimes we have to shut the engine off reinsert and restart to get it to work.

Do you mean disconnect the battery and reset the vehicl?
Or just as simple as you imply?
Thanks!
If that doesn't work do you have any other ideas?

The only thing we do is keep reinserting the CD cartridge in the player. That has made the MCS recognize that it is there. You may have other problems that I'm not able to help with.

My only other suggestion is to look for disconnected wires or a bad fuse.

Thanks!

I was thinking of a bad fuse. But where would it be located?
I'll try to keep reinserting the cartridge! Thanks so much!

On the 1999 models its fuse # F21, located in the fusebox under the hood. If you remove the lid to the fuse box, it has a diagram as shown in this link http://www.whnet.com/4x4/shoptalk.html that will show what each fuse is for. Maybe just pulling the fuse and reinserting it will do the trick. Or maybe the fuse needs to be replaced if it is blown. My 2 cents.

Does it matter that it is a 2001?

Thanks!!!!!
