GL320 CDI ECU update
My servicing dealer told me (at my first warranty service) that an update for the engine computer on my car is available and should be 'installed'. When I asked what it was designed to do/fix I was only told I could look it up on MBUSA. When I couldn't find anything about this fix there, I inquired further and asked for specific service bulletin (etc) numbers was told the ONLY info they have is a notation on the machine they use to read the engine. They tell me the install will take 3-5 hours to complete and I want to know exactly what the change is supposed to accomplish.
Has ANY one got any info on this? The dealer is certainly not forthcoming.:( |
Many times MB has programming issues with their ECU's. That is the reason for the up-date. You may never see a problem OR it could leave you walking.
Have the computer re-flashed. THE reason that it takes so long is that after 2003 power train computer re-flashing requires USA government approval & that requires a special SCN coding & then a conformation as well. |
Thanks,
I wish the dealer had been so candid. |
