window goo

My girlfriends ML320 has some kind of adhesive inside the passenger front door panel. when she got the car, it had some goo on the window and I got it off with goo gone. We drove around a while and thought all was good. I rolled down the window and up again and the goo was back. Has anyone had this problem? I'm sure it could be cleaned easily if were not for the air bags in the door panels. Is there a way for a DIYer to remove the door panel to clean this stuff off?

Run a search on this forum for both the goo (which is from sound deadeining material inside the door that commonly comes loose and rubs on the glass-easy fix) and removing the inner door panels (which is simple to do, as the air bags and their trim covers stay on the door, everything else around them just pops off). Whole project to solve this problem on both front doors probably can be done in 15 minutes.
