C1401 Code

This code apparently indicates abs pump circuit; if power has been found to the pump and when directly applied to the pump the pump is not operating, is it a good conclusion to think the pump itself is somehow shot and replace the pump? David

Have you tried replacing the relay for the pump, underhood at position K25?

IF that didnt fix that problem...the pump is part of the hydraulic unit.

Many times the relay will fail in such a way as to cause the pump to run continuously. This usually results in damage to the pump from overheating. A simple test is to remove relay k25, and jump sockets 3 and 5. This will apply power to the pump. If it runs and sounds OK maybe it's not toast.

Thank you for the jumping tip; I will try that tomorrow morning and post results. I will also double check the battery; I did switch relays around and the 'abs' relay runs the heater blower so it apparently is good. Again, thanks for the tip. David

Well, removed the relay and jumped th 3/5 slots but nothing happened with the pump. Pretty good conclusion that the pump needs replacing. I will start looking; thanks for the tips, if I am missing something someone jump in, David

Abs

Your windshield washer reservoir is not leaking onto the ABS pump, is it?

The original reservoir would leak at the seams of the 2 halves.
