Hi Gilly,

This is great stuff! I'm glad I waited until this week to take the truck to the dealer. I will show them your thoughts and see what they decide to do.

Thanks again, and I'll keep you posted.

Rgds, Ed

Maybe this thread can serve as a listing for some common problems (and fixes) to the ML series?

I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced these minor but really annoying problems we've had with our '99 ML320?

1. heating and a/c is very unresponsive to the controls. One notch is too hot, but a single notch over on the rotary temp dial changes the output drastically. Dealer says is normal.

2. when windows are rolled down and back up, they are covered in wet/dirty streaks. This happens for a week after the car wash. Dealer says is normal.

Hi Dean,

Hopefully, the ML list will be short for yours and my MY2000 since each year has usually improved prior year deficiencies!

With regard to the window streaking, I would say you have poor sealing specific to your truck. I can tell you that MBZ has a replacement insulation part now for the doors which supercedes the original part number. A request for this replacement might uncover the true nature of your leak.

The temp controls are the single reason I almost didn't buy this vehicle. This is 20yr old technology in a 21st century truck. It's taken them two years to decide that climate control would sell more ML's, hurrah at last ( I guess).

The next challenge for our technical brethren will be how to retrofit the climate control panels and the new power window switches to our ole' girls....
