aux (fog) light questions again.

I have not install any aux (fog) light on my 2000 ML yet. I plan to ask the dealer to turn them on the next 10,000 service.

My questions is could I have them turn on the power to the intergrated aux lights AND the plug to the aux light near the bumper.

So, in the future I could have the choice to go either way or both at the flick of the switch.

And have people been successful have their dealer turn it on for free.

thanks
ben

I don't have the integrated aux lamps in the bumpers of my 99 ML, but I decided to have the dealer turn the codes on a few weeks ago. I bought a set of Hella projector lamps and since the truck was in the shop anyway, thought I'd get the codes enabled too.

The tech did them for free and said if it didn't work, to bring the truck back.

When the lamps came in the mail, I installed them and they did indeed work! Supposedly, the integrated lamps in the headlights (if I bought the bulbs) would also work.

Although some will vouch for their successes, the general consensus is that there is not sufficient power to operate BOTH sets of lamps, especially when you consider their wattage and inevitable power consumption. Max bulb rating should not exceed 55 watts.

There are more than a few threads about ML foglamps, and subsequent problems with blown fuses as a result of incorrect applications...
