Transmission Please Help me

I have a 99 ML320. The day i brought my new baby home from being born the car got stuck at a red light. I drove it home after 60 seconds of stalling. Two days later I drove it around the block no problem. I went about 2miles and the car started not wanting to go anywhere as I step on the Gas pedal. I turned it off several times and waited about 5 minutes and restarted and the car would go a little ways. I had to do this at least 30 times in order to get it home. Also the key was pulled out of the ignation at 20 miles per hour days before this trouble begin. Would my transmission just go just like that? No previous warnings and no previous problems with the transmission? also a mechanic put on a water pump, then my car start shooting out oil. he fixed the oil leakeag problem now the transmission works at random.

1ST thing to do is check the trans fluid level, if it feels like the trans isn't pulling.
