ML Door Panels - Falling Apart
I have a 1999 ML430 and all of the interior door panels / plastic compartments have fallen apart and or have seperated from the door. When I open the doors they get hung up on the weather stripping and pull apart from the door. I would have to say this design sucks!
I was wondering if this is a common problem for the ML's and are there any special tools or tricks I should be aware of B4 I pull the door panels off. I plan on epoxying the plastic 'push-pins' to the back side of the door panel and then re-installing the door skin. Has anyone had experience with this? Is it straight forward R&R? Will the power window wiring require and special attention prior to removal / special clips needed / special tools for removal / etc. Please help.

You probably would need some new clips (push pins) from the dealer. The new ones are green. Yours are white. You would want to hot glue the clip holders onto the inside door skin.
While you have the door skins off consider going for some sound insulating material like Dynamat. You really will notice the improvement. Joe

The 1998-99 ML's suffered with low $ door panels. The dash & cupholders were modified in 2000.
Would think new clips would help.
