g-wagen

How much would a 1999 G-wagen cost? How much do they weigh?

There's a guy who gives offroad driving lessons in his G-wagen for $40/hour. Is it worth it?

Lets see, a '99 Gwagen is tough to price right now. Maybe you could get one for ~$75,000. The 2002s will be about the same, the '99 is a little more desirable to me. Remember that new in '99 it was a $140k, best of luck finding someone ready to part with theirs for cheap. They wiegh 5500+lbs, HEAVY!

Lessons???? Just buy one and go try it out. Join the Gwagen club(free), come on our next trip, and I will teach you tons for free.

Howdy All,
This is my first post.I have a 61 Mog that is in the process of being restored, hopefully by the end of summer it will be ready to roll. I have a question for G-Man. You mentioned the G-Wagen club. How do I get some info about it?¿ Also are there any members in the Southern California area?¿ Thanx.

Frank,
Ther is a loosely knit group right now. We use www.clubgwagen.com as a base for now. There is a link there to a Yahoo group forum as well, tons of good info floating around.

Kuan,
Sure, I'm not responsible for ripping off any errant plastic body parts though! I have even constructed a small "test track" for my G and Unimog. I dug some BIG holes and alternated them so the truck "teeters" and leans like crazy! I have yet to NOT scare the pants off a passenger demonstrating the trucks capabilities. I wouldn't be too surprised if an ML made it through. You may have trouble with clearance, but it is all soft dirt so...... Well at any rate if the ML gets stuck the Mog can get it out.

Howdy G-Man,
Thanx for the info. I have looked at clubgwagen a little. I will take a look at yahoo. Pulling out Kuan's ML with the Mog shouldn't be a problem, you just have to know when you are pulling it because you won't even feel it(especally with a 416). Are you taking the Mog to Moab at Easter?¿

IF I make Moab at Easter I would most likely run the Gwagen. The Mog needs a front diff lock seal replaced. Then it is a real beast to haul all the way from Minnesota. I am planning WAY ahead and hoping to have it out there in 2003. I ultimately would like to have a Doka to haul the family along. My current Mog would serve more as a workhorse doing snowplow and dumptruck duty. If you go, have a blast, that is one spectacular playground.
