New G Owner
Hello All!!
This is my first time on this site and my first post. I have recently bought a RH drive '85 G-Wagen and I'm trying to gather as much info as I can about it. I have already done a lot of research and found a bunch of websites for them, over the past few months, but what I really need to do is hook up with some owners in the US and get the important info. The most important question I have is, what's it like getting parts and having work done on them in the US? I do all my own work on my cars, so the service problem isn't that big a deal, but sometimes you have to have a shop do some work for you. Where/Who can I get parts from? Where/Who can I get a service manual from? Also, is there anyone that lives up in the Massachusetts area where I am? Any answers to these questions, or any other good info. anyone can help me with would really be appreciated. I'm really looking forward to getting in and doing some work on my new toy and I know I'll be talking to you all again soon. Thanks, Jay |
Jay, Your best bet for G parts/manuals is the former importer Europa/Gwagen USA. I think they are back to just Europa now that MBUSA is importing the G. They normally have decent stock, prices are a little high, typical MB though. You may be able to get the manuals on CD with the 460 being out of production. Your best bet for technical questions is to go to clubgwagen.com and find the link to the Yahoo message board group. If you join up there you can get lots of good tips and experience on your G. Most of the guys there have the older 460 series Gs like yours. Enjoy your new toy, they are awesome little trucks! Brent
