Whirring sound in the rear of my 2000 ML
Hello all,
It's been a while since I've posted but hopefully someone will have an answer for me. I've been ignoring a "whiiring" coming from what seems to be the rear passengers side for a couple of months. The car was getting slowly progressively louder. Last night I notice a slight click while turning left upon acceleration and could feel the "whir" through the floorboards. I was assuming this was a wheelbearing but would really appreciate any clarification. I was looking for a diy on the bearings but can't find one. Thanks in advance, Kodiak:confused: |
Sound like your on the right track- Replaced one a couple weeks ago ...

I had the intermediate carrier bearing go on the driveshaft, Depending on where I sat, the noise came from all over when it was really right under the middle of the rear seat. I do most of the work myself, I had this one done because of the stories on this site, replacing transmission seals etc.
The mechanic I use said (and I quote) "this sucked" about $600.00. |
