2000 ML320, Expansion valve location?
Hi guys.....Seems like my a/c compressor experienced "black death".....My new compressor, expansion valve and receiver drier have just arrived.
I traced the a/c lines from the compressor across the firewall and they enter the vehicle's cabin on the passeger side..... Anyone know the exact loaction of the receiver dryer, the expansion valve and the orifice?????.....and a proven procedure to access them???? As always, thank all of you guys!!!!

I don't know where the TXV is on your car, but I would recommend replacing the condenser.

Just to let everyone know, I found the location of the expansion valve....It is located behind a piece of black insulation (you have to remove a nut), on the passenger side firewall, right where the low pressure line enters the firewall.....Still looking for the receiver drier location, I'm going to assume that it may be in the same general area, may need to remove the battery to access it.....When I find it, I'll post it's location.....
THANK GOD that the expansion valve is so readily accessable, I replaced one on my W126, 1983 300SD, and it was a SUPER pain to do!! I'm not planning on replacing my condenser unless it is full of gunk, I intend to flush it from the top down with either alcohol or mineral spirits, as many times as it takes....Once I pull the lines off of the faulty compressor, they should give me a fair indication of how much metal and sludge is in the system.....I only intend to replace the compressor, expansion valve and receiver drier, everything else will be seperated and thoroughly flushed....With the exception of the AAM ultimately sending the 12 VDC required to engage the clutch, basically on the mechanical side this is nothing more than a typical a/c system.
