Towing with the ML430 '00

I am looking into installing a hitch on my wife's 2000 ML430,to ocasionally tow a dolly with a car on it.I lost some good deals on some fixer uppers just because I could not hauled them fast enough from the seller...my question is:The ML430 is up to the job of towing a dolly with the car on it...and what kind of hitch should I bolt on,OM or Mercedes original, wire harness I dont really need, dolly has no lights.

Early ML's can tow 5000 lbs w/o issues.

Make sure the trans fluid is fresh though.

If I remember,Benz uses Left turn/right turn/stop/marker[4 wire's] .Most trailer's, towdolly's [Have 3] Left turn,stop/Right turn,stop/ marker. You can get an adapter for that at napa or other store's.If you go to uhall you may be able to get a plug in type , call around if they donot have may beable to order it. You do not have to cut wire's just plug in. And they make a lube for that to keep coerosion down from salt/dirt.at plug.

When I bought my trailer hitch kit from the dealer, the adapter came with the kit.
