Need help with 1998 ML-320 starting problem
Hi,
I am an automotive locksmith. A used car dealer has a 1998 ML-320 which was running fine, and the battery died. I am sure they jumped started it, or tried to jump start it. After this the car will not start, runs about 2 or 3 seconds. They towed the car to Mercedes dealer and they checked it out and saw everything was fine, but something scramble the key, and all eight slots had been used, so they would have to put new computer in for $4000. They did not spend the money and called me. I have access to special tool that overwrites slot 8 and programs a special chip key into slot 8. You lose the remote portion, but you have a key that starts the car. I have done this process several times on cars that have the same problem, and it has always worked. I know that the chip is being written to an appears that the process is working, but the car still will not start. Something else is wrong. I have heard that when jump starting you can blow out the AAM or the crank sensor. Does anyone have any recommendation on how I should proceed to get this car running???? You should contact Beckmann technologies in Durham NC. 800-742-1021
They can fix both computers & re-chip the keys.
