My '99 MLs problems

This one's for you new car techs, as I'm still in the "dark age" when it comes to cars

On my "new" '99 ML320, on two occasions now, five idiot lights have come on while driving. I just shut the ignition off and restarted the car and they went off. Recent work I had done on it (under warranty) was a new transfer case and carrier bearing, but none of that should have effected the lights coming on. So I need help here in figuring this out. I can diagnose mechanical problems, but I leave the computer stuff to other shops!

I had a BAS/ESP light come on in mine during a road trip, and it never came back on after that.

The computer still saved the codes anyway, and it prompted a new electric motor (which was a service bulletin upgrade anyway) that had something to do with the low-gearing mode.

Your computer should still have the codes that you experienced unless you disconnected the battery recently...have a tech pull them for you.

I'm pretty sure what he had replaced was the low range motor. It's on the back of the transfer case and is what shifts the transfer case into low range. There is a position recognition switch in there that was prone to failure on the earlier one's especially.
