Surging Idle

morning guys, I have a 2000 ML320 that surges at idle in park (1000-1200 RPM) and when I'm at a stop (600-700RPM). Thought it was bad gas, but it didn't go away on fill up like I was expecting it to. I am not sure what is causing it, it drives and shifts fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks oldsinner, turned out the throttle body just needed to be cleaned. She idles just fine and I even took her on a 1000 mile round trip home to see the parents for the holidays. Unfortunately this morning, the parking brake got stuck, took it off and the light stayed on, had to pull it forward with my foot to get the warning light to go out. Then the vehicle wouldn't shift from park with the brake covered. This is all new, but it was really cold outside, which doesn't explain much. I'll do some searches on my own, just wanted to get the problem out there and see if anyone a whole lot smarter than me knows whats going on.
