I have recently driven a 2002 ML and really liked the black and grey color of the MCS where mine is blue and white. Does anyone know if this is a complete change or perhaps just a setting change in the unit? It seems that the computer would be able to produce whatever color was needed. Please help.

Also, I have recently seen a projector beam set designed to update older ML's, can you also replace the taillights with the newer "jeweled" style that comes on the 2002? Thank you.

No, the color change is a 2002 MCS thing.
On the different taillamps, if I get the right set of conditions in the shop, I will definitely give it a try.

YES! I had the chance to try this today, a rather slow day for us.
The plate that the bulbs go into is different, but as far as I could tell in the parts dept., the bulb plates are included. There is a difference in the bulb plate in the shape, and also there is a pigtail that leads to a new sidemarker bulb in the side of the new lamp. But the chassis harness plugs into the new bulb plate and works just fine.
The price I got was about $96.00 each, part numbers 163-820-21-64 and 22-64.
