2000 ML320 MCS/Changer

My cd changer has been changed once already under warranty because a cd would not be selected in the changer and the "Changer Error" screen would display. This happened on all types of cds, burned and purchased ones. I have stopped using burned cd's because the delear told me that Mercedes cannot insure that their players will work with burned cd's but insisted that the cd's would cause NO damage. Either way, the changer was replaced and worked wonderfully for quite some time and I am beginning to get teh "CHanger Error" display again and with the same scenerio. This problem in the past took some time (approx 10,000 miles) before it became bad enough for me to be sure that the problem would occur while at the delear. I am aware that policy does not allow the replacement of a working part and that the error must occur while at the dealer, however my vehicle has 44,000 miles on it and I am afraid that the problem will not progress fast enough while the vehicle is still under warranty. Any suggestions? Can I point out the problem and ask for the new 2002 changer? Do you think the problem is in the changer or perhaps MCS? Thanks

NO, you can't put a 2002 changer type into a 2000, in 2001 the design went to fiber optic bus, the 1998-2000 had the electrical connection only.
