w164 320 cdi red battery, "display faulty"

Ok here goes. I know these cars are renowned for electrical issues but searching for this fault has so far shown me naught. Have only had the car for 6 months. For the first 3 months no problems at all from memory. Then while driving red battery symbol and "display faulty" error messages, has audible beep at same time. At night the stereo would change from bright to dim. Taken to my local benz specialist they suggested with the mileage on it (150 000km's) that a pair of new batteries were a good start. I plan on keeping the car so didn't hesitate. Problem recurred about a week later, new alternator. Had to tow race car (yet another Benz) about 1000k's each way to race meeting, must have logged at least 200 faults on the trip. Mostly the same two previous codes, sometimes low oil and tailgate open as well. Headlights were flashing on and off if left on auto and indicators are slow to start blinking while fault is present. Back at workshop they had it for weeks, no biggie have spare car. They found issue to be faulty driver seat module. Got car back Friday had to tow with it on the weekend and same issue. Driving me and my workshop nuts, they are very helpful and professional but I thought I would ask here for any clues?????????????????????

Lift the carpets and look for water damage-there are several modules/amps/relays under the floors (at least in the R, same platform) perhaps there is a water issue causing all the problems. Bad grounds can also cause these sorts of problems, or melted wires/poor connections. Electrical is always a challenge, it takes time to inspect harnesses, modules, relays, meter wires/check resistance before replacing parts.
