02 ML320 Score the disc when replacing brake pads?
Watched a video on replacing front brake pads. The guy used sandpaper to score the disc before he replaced the pads.
Never done this before. Is this necessary?

Guy in video used what he called a 9mm hex wrench - which I call an allen wrench - to remove the two bolts in the caliper. He actually hit it with a rubber mallet to loosen it and to tighten it back. Is this right? Do you use an allen wrench?
Also can't you remove just one top bolt and swing the caliper down to replace the pads? Why remove it completely? Would make it a lot simpler. Maybe there is a socket that is a 9mm allen wrench socket? Never seen one. 2002 ML320.

Is the removal tool a Torx40? I just looked at a new set of allen wrenches and they did not include exactly a 9mm wrench. Or do I need to look at a metric set of Allen wrenches?
Also can't I just remove one bolt and rotate the caliper down instead of taking it all the way off the car?

Bump. Torx40? Rotate caliper down rather than remove? Surely the MB engineers thought of this.
