W251 rear lift gate sensors?

Where are they? 2007 R320. Just purchased this truck, car, van, whatever last week and the tailgate will not pull shut with latch motor. I can slam and it latches but still getting warning on dash and interior lights stay on. Latch is new, installed by Mercedes dealer within last month. Goes up and down fine but will often reopen itself after first cycle. Bummer is dealer is in another state.

Hi Klaus, I was having a similar issue with my tailgate, the switch on the outside was/is sticking open which screwed up the tailgate motion. See if it's stuck in the open position, if it is, push it towards the front of the car. That solved my issue.

Solved! Turned out to be dirt simple. Catch on body was not playing nice with new latch on tailgate. Had to move a substantial bit back and to drivers side to get latch to fully seat.

Two t-40 bolts on scuff plate near spare tire, then it pries straight up with a hand full of trim clips holding it on. T-40 bolts to adjust catch, also.

Thanks for the replies!
